I went to transfer my autumn ale today and saw these. This is about my 10th batch and I have yet to see anything like this, pitched this brew on a yeast cake of a summer ale.
I tasted the very end when I was done racking and the flavor was not really good, but there was also a lot of yeast stirred up.
Also note that I was racking as I took the picture, the krausen was not this dark, the lighter stuff higher up was what most of the krausen looked like. The dark spots got stuck on the sides as I racked to a secondary (I don't like to leave beers in for the full 3 weeks in this bucket due to it not being sealed)
