My wife is italian, and like any italian, she loves a good glass of vino. Always has a glass of red or white with her meals, unless we BBQed something, in which case she drinks a beer.

Last night, we sat down to a meal of snapper and pasta alfredo. As I went to the kitched to fetch a beer, I asked her if she would like a glass of wine. She said, "No. I think I prefer beer now. I haven't been enjoying wine as much as your homebrew lately."

EH?! An italian turning down wine in favor of a brown ale?

Now, don't get me wrong, she has ALWAYS been a fan of good beer (in fact, she was the barmaid at a microbrew pub when I met her), but I have never seen her choose beer over wine for a meal before.

This, to me, is a great mark of success.

Cool! Another convert. Good Ales are much more pleasing than a glass of wine. They don't really wipe the pallate clean like a dry wine does but it sure is good, wet and satisfying.

Now with a rich spicy Itialian dish that's acidic, a nice bottle of Chianti is my choice.

I'm looking forward to a non-existant day when my wife thinks that any beer is better than Miller Lite.

You're wife is pregnant isn't she, Cheesefood?

If she plans on nursing your spawn, hops are a catalyst for good milk production. Lactation specialists will suggest to women that having a beer every day will help dramatically with their milk production.

Now, when you explain to her that Miller and other similar swill has little to no hop content, you might be able to talk her into trying some nice pale ales or (better) india pale ales.

Keep a can of miller on hand for the big day when she finds a quality beer that she enjoys the flavor of. Then, right in the middle of her drinking it (so the taste is fresh on her tounge) pop open that can of Miller and give it to her for comparison. She will either not be able to taste it at all, or will think that it tastes metallic and salty.

You might be able to convert her this way.
