I have an Extract brew that has a bitter burnt taste. I have now let it mature at room temp for almost a year and it is still undrinkable to me. What do you think did this? It is a Cream Ale.

Maybe the extract got burned when you put it in? Was the pot on the stove when you added it?

Maybe you didn't stir the wort well enough when brewing and it got burned on the bottom of the pot?

edit* damn, too slow.

So you bottle conditioned it for a year??? Wow....

If it's been in the bottle for a year and taste scorched, more than likely the extract went straight to the bottom of the kettle and some of it got burned...it happens quite a lot, that's why it is a good idea to remove the pot from the burner when adding any extract and to keep stirring when adding.
