Hello all! I have no experience with mead. however, I want to make one soon. from what I understand, by using different sugars we can influence the taste of mead. how would I go about making a mead with a strong dark rum flavour? any help would be much appreciated. Cheers! :mug:

Why would you add sugar to a mead? The best way I think you should try is to make a Bochet and right before bottling fortify it with some dark rum, not a lot, just enough to push the flavor over a little. They also make hard liquor rum flavorings to add to grain to give it more flavor, some online shops carry them. Dont forget to oak it well. WVMJ

Unlikely to find a recipe. There's little point in making one set of ingredients taste like another.

Jacks idea would likely get you the closest.....

Otherwise, if you want rum.....go and buy rum.......

I'd say a touch of molasses and some oak too.
You did say any help.
And I doubt there are many recipes, could try a search.
