I just picked up a couple pin-style corny kegs and I'm trying to give them a very thorough cleaning but I can't for hte life of me figure out how to unscrew the poppets.

On the hex nut part of the poppets, there are 2 (on the gas in) and 3 (on the out) small metal bumps welded on the actual hex nuts. Everything else is perfectly round.

Is there some kind of tool I don't know exists for these things? What am I missing here?

They sell deep well sockets ($10 - $40 depending on how silly it gets) with notches made to give clearance for the metal pins. You could make your own if you have a dremel or other grinding tool perhaps.

When I had some pin lock kegs I was able to get the posts off with and adjustable wrench carefully place at the right angle. I assume they were not on super tight so I was able to get it done.

I used a wrench at an angle.

Yet, there are these you can order.
