I'm trying to clean it as best as possible. I think its from the malt.

Could that affect my previou batch in a bad way?

Should I throughly clean off the burn mark before brewing again?:drunk:

I have the same problem. Where can i get Barkeeper's Friend? Or would scrubing with a scouring* pad work?

when i get a scorch mark in the bottom of my stainless brew kettle, i just use a 3M green scrub pad without soap and they come right off

ok, got the burn stuff off. Is that going to play into the taste of the batch that it got burnt in?

You know, I would intuitively think that it would affect the taste, but I've scorched decoctions before and was unable to detect it in the finished product. Then again, it was pretty minor scorching so it may depend on how bad it was.

I've scorched the bottom of my pot several times and never tasted any burnt taste.

Wait, there was one time I tasted some burnt flavor, but it was a stout recipe :D
