One of my favorite beers is surly furious, midwest has a kit for it and it is awesome. The liquid yeast that is recommended is 1335. The last two 10 gallon batches have been slow to start, had little crausen, and have struggled to get the beer down to 1.020. (supposed to be 1.016-1.018)

Now the details:
1 gallon starters for both batches- split between two 6 gallon carboys with 5 gallons of wort in each.
Fermented in my basement crawlspace, temp seem to stay between 58-65 degrees (depending on active fermentation or not) read on the stick on thermometer on the side of the carboy. My other batches blow over like crazy sitting right next to it. Now they are in smaller carboy with a different yeast, so I am sure that can't be used as any type of comparison.
I even have moved these things to my basement bathroom floor- which is heated, to raise the temps up to 70-72.
The last batch I heated the mash tun directly, keeping my temps pretty close to the recommended 152-154 area. I may have had a few hot spots, but stirred every few min.

What was your mash temp? Did I just miss it? By the way the recipe looks excellent.

The last batch I heated the mash tun directly, keeping my temps pretty close to the recommended 152-154 area. I may have had a few hot spots, but stirred every few min

Yeah its probably just the amount of unfermentables in it. I 've had no attentuatoion probs with that yeast. Actually last time I used I finished out around 1.012. It doesn't mean the beer isn't still good.
