Hey all,

I am going to take a shot at an Old Rasputin Imperial Stout recipe this weekend.

I don't have any of the hops needed so I am going to sub:
Magnum (in place of Cluster)
Amarillo (in place of Centennial)

but what about the Northern Brewer hops? I have read so many different conflicting things---I have Fuggles, EKG, Willamette, Chinook, Columbus, Simcoe, Horizon, and Warrior.

What would you use for a flavor addition in place of Northern Brewer (id say 10 min or less) for a RIS?

I am leaning toward Chinook (because I have subbed this one before in a Stout and it turned out great) or possibly Willamette. Some of the guys at the BN say to use Simcoe in place of NB.....

Anyone care to chime in?

Nugget, Chinook, Columbus, Bullion, Perle, Styrian Aurora

From what I've tried in brewing so far, Chinook or Perle would probably be best. Simcoe alone seems a little aggressively flavored to directly substitute. If you went that route, I'd do Chinook/Perle with a little bit of Simcoe added, maybe a 3:1 ratio.
