Doing a smash blonde w/11 lbs of 2-row. I am currently limited on kettle size. Will this work?

First runnings into a 4.75gal kettle
Sparge into a 5 gal kettle

Boil both kettles down to 5gal total

Split hops between each kettle 50/50

Or would it make more sense to mix them before boiling to get similar gravities in each one?

it does work better to do half the first runnings into each pot and again with the second runnings. more uniform gravity that way, gets you uniform 'normal' hop utilization during the boil.

I completely agree. Use a couple of buckets to split the first running between two batches, then split the second runnings into each. Brew each with the hops split 50/50.
