I am purchasing a bottle filler with an outside diameter of 3/8''. Should I buy tubing with an inside diameter of 3/8'' or should I buy tubing with an inside diameter of 1/4'' and run it under hot water so it expands?

I could be very wrong on this, but I think when I first got into this I bought 3/8" ID tube for a 3/8" OD racking cane/siphon cane/etc.....the problem was it fit loosely, tended to pop off, and introduced air into the siphon. I went with the next step down, (5/16", I think?? maybe 1/4"???) and it worked great. I think 5/16" is standard size for siphon tubing, but I COULD be wrong.....

Yea now that I look more closely the next step down is 5/16''. That sounds like what I'm looking for.
