Dead Yeast?

Brewed up a batch of RED ALE.....it is a Brewers Best kit.....had Nottingham Dry Yeast.

Pitched yeast qt 7PM Saturday evening (70 hours ago). Absolutely no activity since then.

I popped the lid to see if anything was happening....fiiguring maybe it was leaking around lid....but absolutely no activity inside.

SO I had a packet of Safale 05 and I pitched that......gave it a good stir and resealed.

I hope I did the right thing. Either way it will make beer...right!
 
Didnt check the current SG since its only been 3 days and did not appear to be doing anything........I figure there is no harm in adding the extra yeast other than the cost of it which is miniscule compered to a wasted batch of brew! :mug:
