Since I have started making and drinking cider it seems as if I don't enjoy stronger flavor (pale ale, stouts, etc.) beers as I usually do.
 
I think I've been just the opposite. After drinking my ciders I tend to enjoy the fuller hop flavors of an IPA more. I love my ciders, but a nice hop bomb is just what the doctor ordered ;)
 
Yes, in the sense that I brew lower abv beers now, and shoot for more taste. I used to brew with an abv set towards 5.5. I have scaled back to around 4.5 as I have plenty of alcohol in my ciders if I want to drink it. Beer is now more of a 'do something while drinking' drink. Cider is for sipping.
