Basically, the 2 CH2s in the Polyethylene terephthalate diagram orfy posted is the ethylene. The poly just means that it's polymerized. The rest is what adds the terephthalate
I found buckets at a good price, but some are polyethylene and some are polyethylene terephthalate. They aren't the same, so they all can't be used for fermenting.
Polyethylene terephthalate like Orfy sez is PET or PETE recycle symbol #1 used in Better Bottle fermenter.
Polyethylene usually broken into 2 groups High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)recycle symbol #2 used in Primary fermentation buckets for both beer and wine.
And Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) recycle symbol # 4 not generally used for frementaion.
