Hello there!
I'm finally going to try my very first recipe. I designed it using the trial version of BeerSmith 1.4and I'd like to make a Red Ale (I used the sugested amounts for an Irish Red Ale) and here is what I got:
Irish Red Ale
Malt extract and grains (all weyermann)
6.17 lb Pale Liquid Extract
1.54 lb Carared (20 SRM)
0.88 lb Caramunich Malt (56 SRM)
Hops
1 oz East Kent Goldings (5% 60min)
0.5 East Kent Goldings (5% 20min)
1 oz fuggles (4.5% 5min)
Misc. Ingredients:
0.25 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 10min)
yeast:
1 pkg SafAle English Ale (DCL yeast #S-04)
I chose this ingredients because those are available on my nearest brewstore (There is not much variety though). With this recipe I get the following estimates for a 5gal batch:
OG 1.060
FG 1.016
Alc/vol 5.8
Color 13.9 SRM
IBUs 17.4
It seems like everything is in this style range, do you have any comments or sugestions on this recipe?
Thank you so much in advance, I hope this sounds like a good beer.
Cheers!
