Wondering if anyone puts their HERMS coil in the MLT as opposed to the HLT. I figure putting it in the MLT would allow me to clean it easier (hot water form the HLT goes inside as opposed to sweet wort). Comments?

Some people do that, but then you lose the benefits of recirculation.
I think you will have a real problem doing it that way. The temperature of the mash will be maintained next to the coil, however, it will not maintain temp for the entire mash volume. (Unless you stir or recirculate the mash)
