Hello! I'm making my first batch not using a all in one kit. I accidentally ordered a half of a half gallon size of LME and would like to use it in my beer. How much of the 7lbs of dme do I need to omit? Also, how much dme do I need to carbonate a 5 gallon batch in the bottles? Last question, anyone used Ringwood Ale Yeast/Wyeast 1187? THANK YOU!!

LME provides 35 gravity points per pound.

DME provides 46 gravity points per pound.

so, 7lbs of DME would provide 322 gravity points.

To get that 322 points from LME, you need: 322/35 = 9.2 lbs of LME

As for priming with DME... it's been a while since I did this, and I cannot remember that amount to use. I want to say 1.25 cups, but am not certain.

I've never used that yeast before.

Seems like using DME to prime with would be a waste. I would save the DME to use in a recipe or to make a yeast starter.

Table sugar is cheaper.
