Mother Nature tried to wreak havoc on this day, but I denied it the opportunity!

Power outage mere minutes before start and it was off for 3 of the 4 hours of the brew time, but I was not to be denied.

Mash temp was about a degree lower than planned (151 instead of 152).

Got my 7.25 gallons (with final runnings of 1.010.)

Pre boil grav: 1.043 (instead of 1.044)
Final boil volume roughly 6.25 gallons @ 1.054 (1.056)

The only thing that I did wrong (if you can call it that) is in my haste to get it done, I grabbed the wrong yeast.
So, instead of Notty, I used Wyeast 1056.

This is my first time using that yeast, so what can I expect?

The other thing I was thinking about as an afterthought, is that I could have upped the FG with some DME.... Correct????
How much DME would be needed to get 2 points?
When would I have added it??

All in all, I chalk this day up to a blazing success... 73.6% efficiency according to BeerSmith. Not too shabby for a NOOB.

Nice job. DME is about 46 points per pound per gallon. So to get 2 points in your 6.25 gallons you would need:

(46ppg x pounds)/6.25 gallons = points

so, 46P/6.25 = 2, so P = .27 pounds

You could add this anytime during the boil, later additions result in less darkening.
