I only brew 2-2.5 gallons and ferment in Mr. Beer's LBK's. Made my first all grain BIAB in an electric turkey fryer, [Irish Red], and decided to build a kettle. A 24qt Bayou Classic, 1440W Rheams 120v SS element, and ball valve kit from Bargain Fittings. The 1" knockout punch from Harbor Freight worked like a dream. The hole is a little large, and the silicone o-rings do not seal properly. The washer that came with the element works fine. I also sealed all holes with red high temp silicone from Lowes. [grill dept.] Next project will be a temp controller.

Is this just a plug and go kettle? Im thinking about converting my keggle to electric since it snows a lot where I live. I keep reading about solid state relays and PID and what not and Im just super confused. I just want to plug in my pot and boil...

Just plug in and boil. Because I brew 2 gallons, its easy to boil with 1 120v element.
