My Local supplier tried to crush some oat malt for me. He said I should crush it extra with a mortar and pedistal when I got home. This is the first time I've used the oat malt and must admit it doesnt look as crushed as the normal grains I've used. He did run it several times thru his mill for me.

Any advise?

I haven't used Oat Malt before, but have used raw Oats in the husk. What a pain to 'crush', you practically have to have close to zero spacing on the mill. At any rate as long as you get them hot enough you should be fine. The main concern is having no husk on it so they can be converted more readily. You could crush them some more, but I don't think it's all that necessary.
