No, not motherly. I never had a friend with a mom who looked like that (I take that back, my first girlfriend's mom was pretty hot and actually made me kiss her, but you don't really notice that stuff in 1st grade.)

She was perfect in that role, initially. She's not really hot, but she's just cute enough where you'd flirt with her in that kind of work environment, since it's all drab and boring and the coworkers are all old, male, or unattractive. But, she isn't someone you would necessarily get a lot of attention in a bar. Jim and Pam's flirtation made a lot of sense initially, because of that.

In the one episode where she is trying to seduce Dwight and she dresses like a "model for a seed catalog", she is hot in that moment for me. I don't know why but a woman in plaid drives me nuts. She's actually not too bad out of character though. Definitely qualifies for the thread.

She's cute, absolutely. What I meant was... in an office environment, unless you're working for a porn studio pretty much every woman in the office is going to be upgraded by two or three notches. A "5" walking down the street is an "7" when she's in the next cubicle, an "8" on a lazy Friday afternoon. It's like young women who go to comic book conventions and suddenly get treated like supermodels.
EDIT: It's context. It's the same effect as the first 50° day in March, it feels like the middle of summer, you're wearing a t-shirt and shorts. But, the first time it hits 50° in the fall, you're looking for the winter coat. That's the same as the "Pam Effect."

Here's some Movie Trivia for you:
