I was able to obtain a 15.5 gal keg from a coworker. Firestone appears to be the manufacturer.

I cut the top off in order to turn this into a brew pot. Everything I've seen here indicates these are stainless steel. Guys at work are convinced it must be aluminum. To me, its too heavy, and was too hard to cut, to be aluminum.

So, what's it made of?

Any idea what was originally in it? I'm guessing it was stainless steel -- aluminum would be too reactive for most chemicals or foods.

Many around here use aluminum pots as brew kettles. Aluminum is safe to cook in. Many posts talking over this point if you search for them.
