Adding rose hips in secondary?

I'm brewing the Anchorage Brewery's Love Buzz clone. It asked for 3.5g of rose hips but I don't have any and the only place (whole foods) is 35+ miles. Brew day is already going so there's no stopping. Can I just make a tea and add it when I get them?
 
Just secondary on them for a week or so. A buddy of mine used some in an american wheat by secondarying with them for a week. Came out nice!
