I've planned on doing my first lager tonight... got my strike temp right, and added 10 lbs of bohemian pilsner malt stirred and watched as the liquid turned a white cloudy color with hints of gold. I've mashed a kolsch and numerous IPAs... but never have I had the mash turn an almost opaque cloudy white color.

Any ideas on what this might be?!?

I don't imagine this is typical of pilsner malt, but I don't know. I did have this malt sitting in a closet, in plastic ziplock bag for a couple weeks. The temperature was stable and it was dark. The malt look normal before I crushed it, and I did not see any discoloration..

Thanks!
