My dryer outlet is in a small, narrow space in the back of my basement, is there any harm in running a really long cord to the front of basement where there's a window?
Is there any harm in using a long cord for elec. boil kettle? >20ft?

As long as the wire guage is correct, no. No problems.

Thanks for the quick replies, I plan on over buiding everything, but that was the first hurdle.
I use 50 feet of 10 Gauge and draw about 23 amps at full power - no problems so far. The cord gets just warm enough to be perceptible, but nowhere near hot.
