So I was bottling two beers the other night, and in between while I was boiling the water for the priming sugar my hydrometer found it's way onto the stove top, melting it instantly. I saved samples of both beers to test when I bought a new hydrometer, which turned out to be today. One of the beers was an Imperial Chocolate Stout, and the finishing gravity was 1.040. I was expecting it to be a good amount lower, something like 1.020 or maybe even lower than that. Could the beer sitting for 3 nights in a cup done something to effect this?
