- The bitterness was a lot smoother and less harsh than one would expect given the high
First time posting a recipe here so bear with me and let me know if I need to fix anything.
Grain bill:
13 Lbs 1 3/8 ounce of Briess Pale 2
Mash Details:
Convert in 16 qts of water at 154 degrees for 90 minutes
Vourlauf and sparge to collect 7 to 7 1/2 gallons in the boil kettle
Boil for 90 minutes and add hops as follows:
3 ounces Cascade (6.4% AA) for 30 minutes
2 ounces Cascade (6.4% AA) for 20 minutes
1 ounce Cascade (6.4% AA) for 10 minutes
1 ounce Cascade (6.4% AA) at 0 minutes
4 ounces Cascade (6.4% AA) in the Hopback
Other additions:
1 tsp WLN1000 for 10 minutes
1 capsule servo for 10 minutes
1/4 tsp Super Moss for 10 minutes
When I made this batch I was trying two different new techniques. The first was using all late addition hops hence the large quantities of each addition. All the hops used in this recipe were all whole hops btw.
The second technique I was trying out was using a long primary and no secondary. I found the information in one of the threads here and will have to go back and see if I can find it at some point. In the end the resulting beer was fantastic and didn't last two weeks on tap here at the house. I hope it turns out just as tasty for you as it did me.
