Went down to the brewery last weekend and picked this up. 220z bottle for $12.

I have to say Im a little disapointed. Its not bad.. it tastes like a strong porter. Very malty.. 10% abv so Im guessing they've added between 10-20%sucrose to boost the alchohol.

But bottom line, I don't think it was worth $12. Good beer, but I could have picked up a 6 pack of Bells porter for $8.99 and been just as happy.

I was also underwhelmed by it. Yet another overpriced bomber from Three Floyds, no surprise there but I expected better from Dogfish Head.

I was also suprised that it wasn't very hoppy. Couldn't have been more than 20 IBU.

Not like I really care seeing as that I am not a hop head, but Dogfish and 3 Floyds uber-hop everything.

I really liked Popskull, though I was underwhelmed the first time due to the reputations of the brewers. I too was expecting an overhopped, out-of-style brew. However, I think it's good as what it was, after I realized what it wasn't. $12 per bottle is pricey, but it was due to the very small quantity produced and the breweries involved, I can see why it fetched such a price. It certainly didn't have any trouble selling.

I thought it was satisfactory. It was what I expected, however, the Palo Santo wood that it was aged on did come out and you could taste the difference between that wood and the typical oak.

Really? I couldn't taste any kind of wood flavor. Like I said, pretty much just a porter with invert sugar..

I forget which DFH video/propaganda that I watched that was talking about the Palo Santo aging vats and they discussed the flavors that were imparted to the beer. I was looking for that flavor, which is why I think I tasted it.

IIRC the video was America Drinks! or something like that. It was given to my wife's cousin when he donated to PBS. It's quality infotainment like that dvd that makes PBS worthwhile.
