I used this thread for my stirplate https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/my-stirplate-cheap-easy-build-86252/ The only thing I would add is the power supply you use makes a huge difference. The 6vdc I have shown in the pic is maxed out and only getting a 2" vortex, the 9vdc power supply I have throws the magnet even at the minimal setting. I'm thinking something in the 6 - 8vdc would be perfect. Of course I haven't tried it with a starter yet and it will have a much thicker viscosity so the 9vdc might be ok, I'll find out this weekend.

Nothing beats finishing projects. Nice work. I hope to be able to say this some day :) I'm currently in the middle of 2 brew rigs and a bar build.

yeah, the only thing I didn't think of was the drip tray and where to mount it. I feel 60% sure I can shoot in 2 very shallow sheet metal screws to hold it up without turning the entire project into a huge paperweight. I know using magnets is an option, but not really liking that idea. I would think the coils and such would be towards the inside and not the outside. That should be all insulation.

The inside. Will hold 6 cornies and up to 2 cases of bottles if I leave the co2 outside.

yeah, I still haven't started the brutus build yet, but I think I'm going to finish converting the old fridge to the fermentation chamber first. Might put off brutus untill next fall. :D

i epoxied two L brackets to the front of my keezer and then use industrial velcro to hold the drip tray to the top of the brackets...works great and can set full pints on the tray. using screws is a pretty big gamble........

Happen to have a picture of that? Being able to set a glass on it is important to me.

I haven't made it this far, still need to make my collar but this will be something I will also need to do.
What about rivets? Small pilot hole shouldn’t be to big of a risk would it?
Or, what about attaching something to your wood collar and then hanging it down from that?

well hanging from the wood collar would be difficult because the collar lifts up with the lid, thats why its only 4". I wanted to lift everything out of the way for loading and unloading. Not to mention keg can get heavy, why add to the height of the lift if I don't need to. :) Rivets would make it more permanent, I'll need to be able to remove it to clean etc.

I'll try to remember to post one this evening... it's really as simple as it sounds though. I did it with the L's upside down, epoxy one side to the keezer and then on the other arm of the L (which is on the top) I used the velcro to hold the drip tray to the brackets. then you can just pull the tray off the velcro to clean.

Wife suggested a similar idea, epoxy two picture hanging hooks to keezer and just hang the drip tray from them. Could it really be that simple? I was thinking of something stronger like JB weld.

Building the keezer allowed me to turn the refrigerator into the new fermentation chamber. Already in its maiden voyage. Its also worth noting, this morning it was 36 deg outside and the chamber (which is in an uninsulated shed) was holding at 64 deg just where it was set. I guess with the insulation on the fridge and the heat generated by the active fermentation it was able maintain temp over night even though it was pretty cold, thats awesome!

Very sweet... have any thoughts of expanding? It looks like the taps are off centered for just that, but that drip tray doesnt look like it will accommodate more taps?

its a 10" tray, good for three taps. I'll add three more to the other side at some later date and just have another 10" tray there. Will look like a mirror image if I ever make it that far...lol

Edit: for the time being though, it gives me more leg room at the work bench.

Just finished up a few more projects. New dip tubes, hop spider, and sight glasses for mash tun and HLT.

I used shelving brackets from home depot and some gorilla glue. Tray is held on with 3M dual lock. Will hold a full pitcher with no problems

Just finished up some tap handles, will put whole hops in the last one. And yes, I need to clean out all the liquid nails from my first attempt at mounting them (long story)

Just finished up my pump box, added a pig tail, a receptacle, and key on/off switches. If I don't say so myself, looks bad arse.

So SHMBO was like, "and why can't I get the faucet in kitchen fixed"? I was like, PFFFT silly woman, (A) you didn't submit a work order request and (B) I was working on my pump box! I mean, the nerve right?

I guess a few pics of why I wanted a pump box. The new HERMS is complete also, got that done couple weeks ago.

Lol... that's hilarious.

Good looking setup btw!

Well you know, you never truly win an argument until you get a "whatever" out of 'em. I got that AND a "look". :p
