When submitting a beer for competition...?

Are there any unspoken (or written) rules to submitting a beer you made from someone elses' recipe? A recipe you had no hand in and didn't change whatsoever.
 
It's yours. You made it. You put the time and effort into it. Your brewing environment and techniques are unique to your brews so don't worry about it. I have a brew buddy who has been brewing for almost two decades and he makes really good product. His wife just loves "my" porter and demanded that I give up the recipe. I was sheepish at first about the fact that it was simply a Brewers Best kit but I now understand that everyones situation is different so the brews you make are uniquely yours.
 
Sweet. Thanks guys. I plan on submitting my Amber Rye, but I wasn't sure about sumbitting Sparky's Nut Brown.
