I know that these questions have been asked a million times...........................but I don't have the time to read through a milliion posts to find all the answers.

Doing a PM

I think that my cooler is too big for the amount of grains.(40 qts) 6 1/2 lbs of grain with 10 liters of water.

Measuring grainbed depth- that would be including grains and water?

When they talk about clarity issues when dealing with grain bed depth, if I am using a grain bag does this affect it?

I guess maybe I don't understand some of the stuff properly and should read more.

Are you batch sparging? If so the grain bed depth doesn't matter since you aren't using it as a filter. Temperature control with the larger airspace will be more of an issue, you can help this by pre-heating your mash tun before you add your strike water and grains.
