I'm going to have about a quarter ounce of hops left over after my brew today. It seems kind of wasteful to just throw them away. Will they be okay if I put the remainder in a ziploc freezer bag and toss them in the freezer?

They are hop pellets, by the way, if that matters. (Hallertauer)

Definitely keep them in the freezer. If you can vacuum seal them, even better. If not, try to remove as much air as possible from the freezer bag.

Last night I realized I had 7oz of whole hops stored in my freezer for a year.

Different hops will have different storagability. The saaz which does not store well had no aroma left over. The fuggles, willamete, and perle smelled almost as good as the last time I brewed with them.

Put the hops in a ziplock freezer bag. Squeeze as much air out of it as possible and zip it shut. Double or tripple bag them. Then put them in the freezer.

Tossing them in the freezer is not a good idea.
Placing them carefully in the freezer is a good idea.
I don't even want to think about Bent Rods
