I know I've seen this in the forum before but how about an update. I'm leaving in the morning for a four day conference and need a watering hole with "good" beer on the strip. Any ideas? I'm staying at Caesars so in stumbling distance would be nice but beggars can't be choosers.

I like Burger Bar at Mandalay Bay, although that's a bit of a haul from Caesar's.

The circle bar between Bellagio and the shops there had a decent selection of Belgians last time I was there.

They had Rogue Hazelnut Brown on tap at the bar (the big one that sells the frozen drinks, beside the big white tented seating area) in front of Caesar's, just behind the steps up to the pedestrian bridge across the strip.

I've heard that Pour 24 in New York New York has a lot of good stuff on tap too.

The brewery at Main Street Station is nice but nowhere near the strip.

Skip Sin City at Planet Hollywood. The beer I've had there is boring and uninspired.

There is a burger bar in The Mirage that I seem to remember had a decent selection and great burgers. In addition to what weirdboy said, the piano bar at Bellagio had some nice beers, probably the same selection. At Paris you can find Fat Tire and Sierra Nevada ( on tap and fresh ).

I might be too late, but I second Pour 24 at NYNY, good selection, and they do beer "flights" of different styles. Not really stumbling distance, but I always take the monorail everywhere.

There is also a Sin City inside the Flamingo (across the street from Caesars), which, as has been said, is kind of boring, but much better that BMC, and definitely within stumbling distance.

Stumble across the street to Bally's. Inside, on the floor, the satellite bars had Pyramid Hefe and Alaskan Amber last time I was there (year and a half). Instead of giving them $5 for a beer, just sit down and put $5 in the video poker embedded in the bar. Play a hand out while they comp you a beer. If you lose, you paid $5 for a tasty beer. If you win money... BONUS!!!

After a few hands/beers... Go to the casino behind Bally's - Ellis Island. They had 5 great beers there and a "sample flight" is free, while 20 oz glasses are like $1 or $2 each. Great beer, great bargain. Oh, and have a meatball sandwich in their restaurant... Heavenly!!!

I hate to be the naysayer, but I will be anyway.

It's getting rarer and rarer to get free drinks for very little play at casinos. In most places they want you to play $20 in for $1.25 a hand minimum. That may not be true at Bally's, but most likely it is.

Ellis Island is great in a cheesy way. But that is some long walk.

I didn't mention it before, and it is not walking distance, but the Hofbrauhaus is quite good. It is near the Hard Rock, so you'll need a car or cab. But they have good beer, the place is a blast and the food is good German comfort food.

Go to the rum jungle in Mandalay Bay, I can't vouch for the beer, but I will vouch for the fantastic cage dancers!!!:ban:

I didn't find that to be the case, at the big casinos on the strip, anyway. Whenever I wanted a drink, I'd just sit down at a 25 cent video poker machine until a server walked by.

i second the hofbrau haus... and the bellagio's buffett... though i was not paying for the second, nor hoping for much.

Agreed on both of these! Just got back from Vegas a couple weeks back. Pour 24 at NYNY is decent, it's on the upper level above the casino floor.

We stayed at the Flamingo so I was able to try all of the Sin City beers eventually. The stout and the wheat were my favorites, but I didn't find any of their beers to be particularly mind blowing. However, none of them were undrinkable either.

Have Fun! :rockin:

Ooh I forgot about Hofbräuhaus, fantastic atmosphere, I loved it! Don't leave without having a warmed shot of apple schnapps, it goes well with their good beer and food.

I actually don't gamble that much so I don't have the problem of free drinks. A few more hours and I'll let y'all know what's on tap.

Pour 24 in NYNY was the best selection I found on the strip. Sin City works in a pinch, but their lineup is fairly tame.

Never been to that place..but how about Sin City Brewing?

I lived 3 miles from the strip for 18 months. Screw all the casinos and stay far away from Ellis Island I used to a hang out in there every Sat. and the beer sucks. Take a short cab ride to Money Plays it's just before Flamingo and Decatur. It's usually a great atmosphere has good beer and a great taco stand next door. If you don't like that place there's a PT's lounge right on the corner which is fun too. Hope I you get this in time.

I agree. I was at the Flamingo last November for the SEMA show playing video poker and was told I had to play a dollar per hand minimum for free drinks.

Pour 24 was an awesome suggestion. They have tons of stuff. I had a mirror pond and dfh 60min last night and plan to go back tonight.

I just looked at the Pour 24 beer list. I'm happily impressed. On my next Vegas trip I plan to visit it.

I have heard there is a place that pours better tasting guiness than ireland. I will try yo get the name for you

You may be thinking of Nine Fine Irishmen near NYNY. I've been there, and I liked the place. Definitely better than BMC for sure.

Nine Fine Irishmen at New York New York should have a decent selection of styles. Didn't get there last year though. From what I remember I was always able to find a drinkable beer wherever we went, I never had to touch the BMC category.

EDIT: EvilTOJ beat me to it.

booyea, too slow....

Haha, I just didn't read the entire thread. I'm kind of bitter about Nine Fine though. We went to make reservations at 5:00 for 8:00. "We don't take reservations, you just have to come and put your name on the list when you want to eat." So we go back a little before 8:00. "Well, the wait right now is 3 hours.' I go "So had you told us that at 5:00, we could have put our name on the list then and then be seated when we originally wanted to be... Thanks."

Who would wait THREE hours for a dinner seating?!?!?

Well you have a whole casino to play around in and a roller coaster (or two???) to ride.

Don't ride the roller coaster twice. The first time is fun, the second time your head hurts.

I also enjoyed the Guinness billboard in New York New York that says "125 calories. Not on purpose."

It's not really surprising but amazing of how much corona gets drank in this city. And also how many guys are drinking fruity drinks (not that there's anything wrong with that)
