I used wyeast British ale for the first time and have this brown syrup looking residue where the yeast once was. This was also in the starter. Is this infection? The yeast is for sure dying where it was stuck to the glass and there is no abnormal aromas that I can tell. what do you think?

I'm not the most experienced brewer....but someone who was explained it to me this way.

Think of different strains of yeast like different people. They're all going to look a little different, act a little different, etc.
