I didn't rinse my fermenter properly after using Diversol. I did rinse, but certainly not properly. I see others also fell into this trap. Hmmmmm, I wonder what will happen....

After doing some armchair research, lets look at some numbers (these are rough numbers, so do your own research)....

When using Diversol, you should be at 100 ppm if following directions at 3gm/liter. When you dump it out of the fermenter, and did not rinse at all, you might have how much left in the fermenter... maybe say 1/4 cup of 100 ppm diversol water if you squeegeed it all out.

So if you fill up that fermenter with 5 gallons of beer with 1/4 cup of 100 ppm Diversol, you get about: 100ppm / (16X4) / 5 gallons = 0.31 ppm of diversol in your 5 gallon beer.

Solid Diversol has 0.10% bromine, so 0.31ppm x .001 = 0.00031 ppm bromine in your beer. Swiming pools have 2-4 ppm bromine. Some people can react to bromine in swimming pools - acne.

Solid Diversol has 3.15% Sodium Hypochlorite, so 0.31ppm x 0.0315 = 0.01 ppm chlorides in your beer. Drinking water has 2-3 ppm chloride.

Diversol also contains sodium phosphate - a food additive, used in stabilizing the coating on chicken/fish/cakes.

Diversol also contains sodium lauryl sulphate - a degreaser used in toothpaste.

I did rinse my fermentor, but not as good as I should have, so my numbers will be much lower than the above. I have no health concerns on this, but hopefully I think I should be in the clear on taste.
