RIMS Return Manifold or What?

Thinking of making a direct fire RIMS system. Right now I batch sparge with a converted cooler. So I'm kinda clueless on RIMS, HERMS, Fly Sparging etc.

If I recirculate with a direct fired MLT how does the wort return to the top of the MLT?

Is it through the sparge arm? Will it clog that?
Does it have it's own manifold?
Does the hose just open up on the top of the grain bed?
Do you use a deverter?

dip tube > ball valve > silicone or other high temp hose > pump (march or other) > more tubing to top of keggle/kettle. You can just lay the hose on top of the mash as long as you have a pool of liquid for it to disperse in.

I am wondering the same thing.

I use a manifold because I like making stuff. The Sabco systems use a silicone hose like samc suggested.

I initially recirculated through the sparge manifold, but husks kept blocking up the holes. Now I run the wort return separately through open pipes like dstar26t shows.

I have a bung welded in the side of mine and a hose lies on top of the grain bed like a sabco.
