I have a few smaller barrels and that seems to be the going price these days. They can be used several times for aging to get some boozy flavor then you can turn them into Brett or sour barrels. The advantage to the smaller barrels is the surface area is greater than in the larger barrels so you can get a quick turnaround (month or two) and still get some nice flavors.
