Well, last night I tried my APA (Nacirema Pale Ale), and I am somewhat disappointed by the results. It tasts almost exactly like my Gaelic Ale clone (an Amber Ale). Then I look at the recipes, they are almost exactly the same with the exception of the hop additions. I didn't even pay attention the the actual recipe. Stoopid Noob!
Here are the recipes:
Nacirema pale Ale Gaelic Ale Clone
6 lbs. Amber Liquid Extract 6 lbs. Amber Liquid Extr.
1 lb. Extra light Dry Malt Extract 1 lb. Amber DME
1 lb Caramel Crystal malt 40 L 1 lb Caramel Malt 45L
1 lb Munich Malt 1 lb. Munich Malt
1 oz Cascade (6%) at 60 minutes 1 oz Zues at 60 13%
1 oz Cascade (6%) at 30 minutes 1 oz Willamette 30 5.7%
1 oz Centennial (6.90%) at 10 minutes 1 oz Centennial (dry) 9.0
.25 tbsp Irish moss at 15 minutes .25 tbsp Irish moss at 15
1 White Labs California Ale Yeast 1 White labs Cal yeast
Way to go LHBS guy, said they were completely different recipes. The Gaelic is just a bit more hoppy than the Pale but, still a good beer, just a bit disappointed.
