Ok - 2nd batch in and I looked at some of the infection threads and mine is different - my "infection" is at the top of the carboy... any thoughts? I had a few homebrews and craftbrews and it hasnt helped....

it's all the white dots at the top...is this bad? IPA in primary for 9 days or so...

That's not an infection, that's just crud left behind from kraeusen, or pouring the wort into the fermenter.

I have seen the white dots in the neck of the carboy before and couldn't quite figure out what it was, but it didn't hurt the beer at all.

Hey, yeah...You have an in....

...credible case of "new brewer's nerves." :D

Sorry that is the remains of a really high krausen.

The beer looks fine....

The white dots? Dried yeast trapped by your stopper.

Did you pitch dry yeast? ive had the dry yeast stick to the top and look just like that

I did dry pitch it... I think this next batch I'll show my friends some additional love :)
