I was aerating yeast prior to brew and didn't realize water was so hot (over 100). I immediately put ice cubes in to cool, but was this too late? Did I kill yeast? How can I tell if its dead?

No, I don't. I scraped it. I will try it again next week. I will get some back up yeast packets as well.

I feel like such an idiot. The second I dropped it in, I knew I screwed up.

Thanks for the reply.

Well, next time you know what to do. Keep in mind that you only rehydrate for about 15 minutes or so, also, so you don't rehydrate until the wort is chilling. For next time, you should be all set. Make sure you check the temperature with a thermometer before you add the yeast.
