Is there bad brew recipes? If I just throw some things together that sound nice, would it taste awful?

Has anyone ever done things and it came out all wrong?

I'm thinking of throwing some random recipe together.

What should I Look out for?

Any positive suggestions welcome

That is the best part about home brewing! Basically just thinking of anything that has sugar or starches to ferment is a good start. I made a potato beer once and turned out better than expected. Just added some shredded potatoes with my base malt to the mash.

Look through your pantry and you are sure to find something to add to a batch.

I also tried a christmas beer this year and added nutmeg, allspice, and cinnamon to the secondary and it turned out horrible. Luckily i racked only a half gallon to experiment.
