keezer temp control suggestions?

I recently ran into a deal too good to pass up on a chest freezer so i bought one long before i planned on getting into kegging.

Long story short I got one of these:

for about $54 with a beat up lid. I am building a new lid out of walnut and gonna run 4 or 5 tabs through a collar.

I want to use a love controller for temp. I want to put it on the vent cover on the side that hides the compressor.


I was not worried about doing this but there is a thermostat built into the freezer(something I did not anticipate)

Is there anything wrong with removing this thermostat? is there a way to buypass it as i would like to cut a hole right were this is at to mount the Love controller?
