ANybody have problems with beersmith's calculation of water needed?

I brewed a beer yesterday andI came up 1.5 gallons short in the kettle. Heated up some more sparge water and sparged again. Kept checking the SG to make sure it didn't go below 1.010 and manged to get the desired amount in the kettle.

Here's the recipe and beersmith info. I use Metric so I converted it to US Gallons etc:

Whats the dead space in your mash tun? You put in basicly 4.5 gallons of water for the mash, you should have lost 1.8 gallons to absorbtion, and used 3.6 gallons to sparge that should have put you at 6.2 gallons. Which is close to your target. With out a huge dead space, you just might have measured wrong.
