So, I found some wild hops growing along a road today. Score!!! A friend also told me he has collected buckets of them in an area close-by. Score!!

Problem is I have no clue what kind of hops they are and really don't think they will contribute much of anything.

I think I will do some cutting come harvest time and dry them to see what I can come up with...but I think they will be darned bland...

Anyone have similar experience?
 
This area used to be a major hops growing area, so I find hops occasionally. You can test them for aroma and flavor by boiling a small quantity for the usual times. I wouldn't try them for bittering, hops vary too much from year to year, even if you know the type.
