I just made some quick and easy (and FREE) hop markers. All it took was a pair of scissors, a Sharpie, and the ratty old blinds from my office window.
The strings that allowed the blinds to be raised and lowered had already snapped, making the blinds pretty useless. This also meant I could slide individual slats out. Based on the width of my window, I was able to cut 3 plant markers from one slat. I just wrote the name of the hop on the concave side with a marker. It's that bowed shape that will give them strength in the ground.
Oh, and SWMBO doesn't mind, because now she gets to shop for new window treatments.
