Fiending to brew, and poor planning on my part I was stuck hitting up #2 choice for LHBS Monday. I wanted 1098, and the only thing they had was 4 months old. Not on tilt I will never been liquid yeast over 1 mo old anymore. It's been a while, and I had many missed Saturday chances to make beer.
I was also too lazy on my last bitter to save the yeast.
Anyways, I laid down my $7, and smacked that mofo once I hit the car. On my 15 minute drive home the thing was half way swollen. By the time I steeped my grains it was about to bulge.
3 days into fermentation right @ 70°F I have gone from 1.044 to 1.018. Since it's an extract batch I expect to finish around 1.014 to 1.016.
Is this a true whitbread strain? I've always have success with this strain, and it has always produced my most appreciated beers.
