Hello all - I am looking to brew some wheat beer......but I can't really use liquid extracts right now - I only have a one gallon primary.....so I am sticking to dry malt extracts.....

Anyone have an easy recipe I can scale down? What about yeast? Is there a dry yeast specifically for wheat?

I am assuming a liquid culture meant for 5 gallons would ruin one gallon huh?

Thanks!!

Robbie

I found a very easy wheat recipe......but does anyone make a dry wheat yeast? I don't have much use for the liquid kits....too much yeast I am assuming...

Nope, a liquid yeast wouldn't be too much. I don't know off the top of my head what the conversion would be from the "commercial pitching rate" is for a one gallon batch, but I do know that a vial of White Labs or a packet of Wyeast wouldn't be too much.

Just make sure you use a blowoff. Many of the wheat yeasts really get after it.

FYI, most dry yeast packets have a much higher cell count than the liquid yeasts.
