Aerate before or after pitching yeast

so for my second batch i am aerating with an aquarium pump. Is it vital whether you pitch before aeration or after. I just realized, after pitching my yeast, that i hadn't aerated yet, so now i have the air stone in the carboy. It seems like it should be alright going in that order.
 
You can aerate after if you are using an aquarium pump, however most brewers choose to do it before pitching. If you are using pure oxygen it must be diffused before pitchin since pure oxygen can damage the yeast.
 
It's not really a big deal. If you're pitching a dry yeast without rehydrating it might be beneficial to do it first.
