HI GUYS
Well its brew 20 and undrinkable.
It is my first partical grain kit and the day i was going to brew i lost my sparg bag.
I had smacked the yeast packet and there was no turing back .
I have heard of guys using nylons for the grain (dont do it).
It was a( porter moss ).

Should it taste like a box / old shoe / and tree bark put in the blender .

I'm sorry- that sucks! I'll be in mourning for your loss. In fact, I'll drink tonight on your behalf.

Seriously- maybe it'll get better with aging? I hope so. That really stinks to have put the time and money into a batch and then have to dump it.

Sorry about the beer.

What happened when you used a nylon for the grain bag? Did you get nasty rings on the carboy and/or bottles? How old is it? OG / FG?

And, no, it probably shouldnt taste like a box, an old shoe, or tree bark. However, if the box you taste is cardboard, that may be oxidation peeking through.

Maybe we can troubleshoot it if not save it.

Cardboard - oxidation
Old shoe - Leather or dirt? Got me there
Bark - Husky/Grainy, maybe astringent.

Bad batches do happen, but until you've had a ropey one, you don't know ugly.
