Allow homegrown hops to steep in kettle for 5 minutes after flameout before cooling.
Cool to 70F and pitch 1000mL starter.
Ferment at 70F for 18 days. Carbonate @ 2.5 volumes.
This was an experimental batch so I could use some of my hops from the garden.
Tasting notes 10/24/09: They've been in the bottle about a month and a half now. Wow! This has got a perfect malty profile to it. The Caramel flavors shine through. It's a bit dark for an American Amber, but the flavor is right on. A little upfront bite from the Chinook hops, but a very smooth back end. I'm very impressed by the way this one turned out.
