i'm confused how to sanitize the cold water? if all my equipment is sanitized and i'm boiling half the water in the wort and the other half is cold water in the carboy how do i know that the water in the carboy doesnt have bacteria in it without boiling it or something?

If it's coming directly from your tap or the store bought water jugs, don't worry about it. When I brew extract batches, I use water from the tap and have never had an issue.

Yes.

The chlorine in your tap water, or the oxoniation (is that a word?) of gallon jugs does the sanitizing for you (for the most part).

ah. perfect! wish i had the equipment to do a full wort boil and a wort chiller but this will have to do until i get more pro.
